Sometimes, we become blind to our deepest selves and the needs of others. Thankfully, the sacred season of Lent invites us to strip away our illusions as we journey to become more fully human. This is our vocation, to embrace a life of seeking truth, goodness and communion with God and each other.
Through fasting, prayer and charity, we recall Jesus’ forty days in the wilderness not just as a sacred memorial but to draw closer to God’s purpose for us and open our minds to personal change. In this fragmented and unpeaceful world, God helps us to forgive and opens our hearts to the grace that heals.
This is a time to confront our ego and our distractions so that we can re-connect with Christ within us and around us. By overcoming what misleads us, Lent becomes a transformative path that awakens us to the hope-filled truth of divine mystery. In this way, we advance together on our pilgrim way towards God.
Lent is a time to pause, to reflect, and to let God’s presence heal our brokenness so that we can live more authentically. This journey isn’t solitary; it’s shared, drawing us closer to others through sacrifice and acts of compassion, enlivening our truest potential as beings destined for heaven.
Even if you haven’t visited a church for a while, know that the ache you feel for something deeper is an invitation, that you’re welcome no matter how far you’ve wandered, that your doubts and dreams are part of your journey and that a heartbeat of hope awaits you.
